Member Spotlight Features Trent!

"Hey guys this is Trent, A.K.A Jack or Mr. Skellington to you! I got my name from the Tim Burton film the Nightmare Before Christmas. As far as directing goes, Tim Burton is by far my favorite. I'm currently 23 years old and have been playing games ever since I can remember. I'm a bit of a hot head but when it comes down to it I get the job done and I can run with the best of them. I'm currently engaged and working full-time so gaming isn't really my main priority anymore but I still like to get on from time to time to pwn some noobs or to justify posts made by people who never amounted to anything in MA2."

  1. Which is your favorite MechAssault title and why?

"MA2 was the best title by far. With the launch of that game, it brought out the more versatile players and the players that actually wanted to have some kinda team work. You couldn't just hop in a promie or a rag right off the bat and just think about yourself. You actually had to base your strats on the mechs on that certain map and cater to the needs of your team."

  2. What is the first Mech you ever piloted?

"Haha it was the second day I played MA and it was a split screen with my father and we didn't know what to do so we picked the Atlas and sure enough the guys on the other team had Rags and to no avail me and pops caught lava balls and thought they were cheating."

  3. Were you part of any team in MechAssault? If so, which team? Would you care to share some of your team's history?

"This is a hard question to answer. Upon launch of the XBOX, my first game was MechAssault. I was extremely engulfed in this game. After getting my name out there I finally struck some minds with my kitfox and running a pretty fierce bowman. It became so natural to me and I became so fluid with the mechs that I was just building myself into a tyrant only I didn't know how to harness my young abilities yet and I didn't really have a set team. One day my father decided to try to harness my capabilities as a pilot and we created the team SpitFire. Which consisted of a few friends an some alright Mech Pilots, Largekid- Furrball- Steve513- Punkish Tuna- Darklord69- InhumaneBeef- Radioshaksuxs. At this time in the game I was 13 years old. A lot of vets of MA didn't like the fact a squeaker being so good at their game. My team was ridiculed for quite sometime and we didn't really have quite the impact I was looking for. Spitfire went downhill when Rainbow Six dropped.

Upon the drop of MA2, I like the call these days Redemption, I was back and a bit more matured. I remember putting the game in my XBOX for the first time. I just knew that this was a chance and I couldn't let it slip. I found myself with familiar faces, and sure enough the Spitfire gang was back and Steve513 had the reigns. In MA2 I started noticing a change in my game play, to some it was selfish and didn't benefit the team. After a few months of the game being dropped and some clan matches later I just didn't see improvement in the so called Spitfire. After loosing to Room Rushers, and getting blamed for the loss I finally made the choice to leave my old team and from then it was a search for a new home.

That night I was up late. I was joining ranked rooms and I fell on a old friend, Starscream. At the time we were playing IYF and he was playing the catapult upon noticing my name he realized it was me and we began talking about my team and what went wrong etc. He then told me they were recruiting one for their mech team and that he would talk to Jug about it.
Soon enough I was in a room with Jug, AFI DEMON Pizzal and Starscream. Over some debating and Starscream vouching for my skills they made the decision to pick me up and I had a home with the team Lordz of Chaos.

Months went by and clan matches were everywhere but I didn't feel at home at all and I didn't sit well with some of the decisions that were made. To put it lightly I was put in mechs that didn't really see much action. I played the team role but I didn't feel like I was putting up big numbers for my team. After a few months Jug and AFI decided they were going to leave the game and soon after Pizzal left as well. So now there was two, Me and Star. After much debate we decided to still play this game. Personally it was the best decision we have made as a duo. We didn't really have a set squad so we enlisted the help of some brash and balls out players such as Seedless and Whitefolks. Matches were nail biters and so close it was just too much for me and Star to handle on a personal note. I found myself constantly growing and just getting more in tune with the game.

So one faithful GB we matched up aganist a squad called JSG, and normally I would always get my info from Star about the players on the other team and I was informed about the two brothers Montross and Snowghost and their lone pick up from my fathers friends MA2 team BEATNUBAD. We won the match, 3-1, but overall it was a great match up. I got off and the next day Star and I discussed the further future of LoC. He then wanted to enlist the help of JSG, preferably the brothers and BEAT. We discussed it over with the members of JSG and after much debate they joined up with us.

I didn't know what to think of this team, all I knew is Star had the reigns and I was going to back him up 100% on the choices so I made the best of it. So I found that one of the members from JSG was alot cooler than I thought, Gary (BEAT) was a chilled guy, and we didn't know it at the time but he had hidden potential. All he needed was the push. After teaching him to wall walk and a little bit of matches and team help he was good starter. So talk started going around about this team Asylum running the gamebattles ladder.

Star and I knew that we should be that team that everyone fears and we should have their spots. So from that moment on it was constant practice. Finally there was a match against the number uno team in MA2. The match didn't go like we had planned and the line up we ran against them wasn't the best one. But with that single match I noticed something, Montross and Snowghost could hold their own and we were actually putting a little pressure on Asylum that match. All in all we lost the match but we weren't done yet, Star began running the show and the molding of Chaos began.

Days and months began to come together and in those months the roster began to emerge. BEAT who was over looked and rarely played in matches had stepped it up and held his own. The team began to have its own set things and we became so natural with our team work. Matches started off rough...we pushed a lot and we made it happen. Our name started to be whispered. Our matches started to become global and finally Chaos smelled blood and it was time to get the rightful place we so deserved. So one infamous night, we scored a match against Asylum...a month prior we had lost to them. So here we were hands shaking, noses bleeding, was the first game on Smokey's host. Our lineup consisted of Me, Snow, Monty, Star, and AFI. The first two minutes was a blood fest, and we came at them pound for pound. I remember Stars voice in my headset saying "we got them this is it!" This is were we truly found out who our promie player was. I watched the onslaught of Snows hammers ripping apart Asylum, and I played the nuance in my Raven as best as I could. After much well placed hammers we controlled the pad and we had the lead and sure enough we had the first map in our grasps. The momentum shifted, I began to feel so confident in my team that I knew loosing was not a factor.

The next map was Over the Falls. This was a known Asylum map and we knew we had to stop them from getting that hill at all costs. Right off the gun, we barrel down the falls to the hill and begin the push that would change the history of MA2 for the rest of the game. Punch for punch we pushed them back, and then the hill was ours the onslaught of Chaos began and soon we were doing to Asylum what they would do to every clan. Finally we shined and the win looked amazing. The rest is history.

From that day on nothing but growth happened, we started getting quicker, smarter our team work was unstoppable and we became a tyrant of the MA2 world. Matches weren't just matches anymore they were rights. And we were taking every single one. We painted a bulls eye on our back but we didn't care, we had it all. And to much debate, Star and BEAT harnessed the treacherous power of The Teenage All-stars. Pretty soon matches lost their luster. It became so common to win and just demoralize the other team. We wanted more, and so began the first GB League. Many teams joined this League. LoC was never one to underestimate their opponents but really they all fell one by one to My Uzi or Snows hammers or Montys Guass or BEAT's cougar or Star's turrets. Winning was always a option and little did we know that fire we had when we tasted that number one spot was gone. And soon we started loosing that luster we had.

Turmoil was this night...it was just like every other night just another match...just another win I told myself. Well to my avail, LR was not going to be so easy and lets just say that's the night LoC lost the foundation. But I mean who didn't see this coming when you play so many matches there is bound to be one that just doesn't sit well with you and this one was it but we didn't listen to our guts and we fell in love with our own legacy.

After loosing, I can really say that I was done with this game. As far as LoC goes, they were my family and I can truly say that I learned from them and I can say that we were the best to touch the MA2 franchise."

  4. Name some of the Mech Pilots you played with most in either MechAssault title.

    "Starscream, Beatnubad, Montross100, Snowghost1138."

  5. If you could create MechAssault 3, what features would you take from each game? What new features would you add?

"To be honest I have no comment on this aubjest cause I don't think there will ever be a MA3."

  6. If you could pick your "Dream Team", who would you pick and why?

"I don't have a dream team. The team Me and Star made was the best and I would play with them any day."

Member Spotlight Features Starscream!

"Hi, my name is Starscream, AKA Star, but you can call me Scream. I have enjoyed playing games as long as I can remember, from the Commodore64/TRS-80/Atari days to the present day Xbox 360. I’ve always been a fan of gaming and have no plans of stopping. I started playing the mother of XBL titles, Mech1, from the very beginning, at a time when it was cool to have numbers after your name. Some of you may remember me as Starscream01."

  1. Which is your favorite MechAssault title and why?

"This is a tough one. I’m a moderate when it comes to this question, I’m not left or right. I enjoyed both titles. They were equally as fun for me when I played it probably because I played both games while they were very active."

  2. What is the first Mech you ever piloted?

"The Belial. I remember the first time I played and I picked this Mech in a destruction room, River City. I went 15-0 on it and thought this Mech is so sexy and this is what I’ll play from now on. I played the hell out of it and several months later I started using the Prome regularly."

  3. Were you part of any team in MechAssault? If so, which team? Would you care to share some of your team's history?

"In Mechassault 1, I never joined a clan for the longest time. After much persuasion, two good friends of mine, AKI, AKI, AKI and DRW Seedless420 convinced me to join Deathrow, where Corpse and R3V were already members. After several months I decided to leave with AKI to join SoS. I had an offer to join La Onda, but they were already a top clan at the time in Mech1 and I wanted to turn SoS into a powerhouse.

I met some good friends in SoS, but I felt restricted with recruitment and Deadspace (RIP) and I couldn’t see eye to eye on a few things. So I eventually left and started a clan with Crazy Portagee and Pizall called Clan Kaos. Deadspace saw this as betrayal and so he rushed our rooms for a while only to get his shit pushed in and so he would drop out complaining about lag.

After a few months, I ran into Corpse and R3V. They had already left DRW and started a clan called GODZ (Godz of Defiance). We talked and on August 28, 2004, LoC was born. We competed in Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow, where Dead would continue to rush us only to get his shit pushed in further, then accuse us of cheating, LOL. I know Corpse remembers Dead claiming that he got shot through a door by him, haha.

We started Mech2 strong going 20-2 in the first season. After the first season, I picked up an old friend, JackSkelington. We then picked up JSG and the rest is history. Oh yea, Deadspace got his shit pushed in even more here. I think he’s submitting a ticket against me as I write this. I have to say one of our biggest strengths is that we had an eye for talent that usually got overlooked. I remember In Mech 1 towards the end, how Wary started a clan, Powerhouse, comprised of elite vets. It didn’t go far because of the lack of team chemistry. I didn’t want the same thing. Well, I guess we had that for a little while after we gave La Onda a home, hmmm.

Anyway, JackSkelington was kicked out of his own clan, Spitfire. Considered an outcast who couldn’t help his clan win because he didn’t understand the concept of teamwork. I was able to harness his skill for well over 2 years and people now remember him not only for his brashness and eye liner, but for his skill in our unit. No one really respected Montross100 and Snowghost1138 before they joined LoC. Maybe it was because they had numbers after their name at a time when it wasn’t cool, I don’t know. They had lost to some top clans and were regarded as mediocre, especially by the Mech1 vets. Now they’re undoubtedly the best sibling duo ever to touch Mech2. Beatnubad was just another computer nerd who was known for scheduling matches for JSG and cow tipping in his spare time. Now, no one can ever look at a cougar the same without feeling somewhat intimidated. It’s easy to say that our success was due to our team being comprised of All-Stars. Not true. No one would have said that before the fact. It took a lot of hard work and preparation. I remember a wise man once told me “It’s hard being the best.” Those words are very true and I took it to heart. But after beating his ass 4 times straight I started thinking, Man, it must be even harder being 2nd best.

Anyway, after mech2, LoC competed a little in GoW and had a respectable record of 35-7. It was around this time that my son was born and I wasn’t able to commit fully and so I played in clan matches sparingly. Beat didn’t care for the game. Without any true leadership and having to deal with a number of flaky members, LoC lost some competitive fire and sort of fizzled. Now we’re like everyone else here. A community within a community with a rich history and a story to tell. We’re happy with the loyal guys who have stuck it out and we will continue to enjoy gaming together."

  4. Did you or your team have a rivalry in either MechAssault titles? What made this team your ultimate rival? Did they see you or your team as their rival?

"At our prime like Optimus, I felt that no one could beat us. I guess the conventional thinking is that Asylum was our main rivals back then . I’ll concede to that simply on the basis of our dislike for each other. I wasn’t intimidated by them like other clans were. We were ready to play anybody whenever. I see some of their members sporting sigs and mottos claiming to be #1. Well, I can see in an alternate universe with no LoC how they can be #1, maybe. But just because they played the best 5 times doesn’t make you the best through osmosis. You got to actually beat us.

We beat every clan that mattered more times than they could catch us. You can’t claim #1 status by beating the Rogue Hunters and D-day. Oh wait, D-day beat them. LoC dominated the game for almost 3 years playing everybody. Without receiving forfeit wins, boosting our record, or bending rules, we went an astonishing 106-8 playing both Team D and CTF. If you didn’t play long enough or if you came to the party late you don’t deserve to be part of any polls or discussion. End of story. Besides Asylum, we had some great matches against Last Rites, Refused Services and Asleep.

I talked about clans coming late, but let me step back. I will give some respect to Last Stand. When we left, the game nearly died and when they came along, the game was just put on life support. They did come late with little competition, but after playing against them twice, and I’m sure the guys from LR would agree with me after having played them, I could tell that these guys would have been strong contenders had they played together earlier. They still wouldn’t have beaten us though. Well, unless Jack was busy painting his toenails during the match."

  5. Name some of the Mech Pilots you played with most in either MechAssault title.

"Let’s see in Mech 1: Ninjawarrior, Aki Aki, Aki, Corpsefiend, Crazy Portagee, SirVTec, Seedless420, JackSkelington, Pizall, R3V, JR01, Doobz, Strider Jin, sick, DM725, Runz Ya, Squeeze, SixSidedDie, Sir TalonHawk, Plastic Man, George the Greek, TurboViper...and many more.

In Mech 2: Snow, Montross, Corpse, Asbestos, JackSkelington, Stomp, Showtime, Gaets, My Big Fat Azzz....or whatever he’s going by now. The guy has had more tags than anyone on XBL. I could list many more. The one area where Mech stands out is that nearly everybody knows everybody to some extent. No other gaming community can boast the same."

  6. If you could create MechAssault 3, what features would you take from each game? What new features would you add?

"Give the Belial an Alpha Strike, haha. Nah, I’m not sure. I liked both titles. I guess Mech selection would be the main thing, but base it on a tonnage limit so there can be balance. Have more maps where you have equal number of VTOL maps as opposed to non-VTOL maps so everyone is happy. 10 VTOL maps, 10 non-VTOL maps. Sound good? Make it so."

  7. If you could pick your "Dream Team", who would you pick and why?

"Well, it’s going to sound cliché, but I believe I already had it. I guess if I had to brainstorm, I could look at each position and surmise what would have given us the same success.

VTOL- Boy, I personally believe we had the best VTOL pilots for our team. We had Chaotic, Snow, and me, who were very proficient and calm under pressure. This is probably one of the most underrated jobs, yet it’s the most important. It’s the team’s lifeline, requires precision and fast thinking to filter through the chaos. A team’s success is largely due to how well of an understanding a VTOL pilot has of his team.

I think it’s funny when I see polls talking about certain VTOL pilots that shouldn’t even be mentioned, yet it’s as if enough people keep mentioning their name, it somehow becomes truth, LOL. Well, I’m strictly talking from a clan match perspective and not random games. You can’t be considered a top VTOL if your team had a mediocre record. If so, you are either bad at VTOLing or you’re a great VTOL and your teammates suck at playing Mechs, It’s quite simple really. It’s hard for me to say it because I don’t like the guy, but Pilotkiller was a top notch VTOL pilot. It’s easy to discount this because of who he is, but remember we’re not judging his literacy. If I were to pick up another VTOL pilot it would be Gameblaster. Another guy that doesn’t get much recognition, but he did quite fine for the Thundercatz, LOL.

Prome- Behind Snow, I’d have to go with T-Mak. It’s evident in how he played with us against Last Stand. Very laid-back and he’s all around a team oriented type of player. Elite and Hydro are two guys that would have meshed well with our system and played to their full potential. Those two guys are the best Mexican and black duo to play Mech2. They know how to have fun, which is what it’s about, but come game time it’s all business. If LoC ever had a doubles tourney, I would call them Team Blaxican. It would be nice to see them go against Team Bunk Bed.

Uziel- I guess Shabby. He’s the closest thing to a JackSkelington minus the mascara. Even though he and I have had many lovers’ quarrels, we usually emerged from it even more in love. Sometimes I wonder if we had a different Uziel player maybe we wouldn’t have had certain breakdowns at the end, but I’m still thankful for the 50+ times that Jack actually helped us. MyBigGuassUnit is another player that would have given us success.

KitFox – Squeeze. Not only because of his skill, but just because he’s cute and I like him.

Raptor – Jefferson. Yes, he did lose poorly to me in our many forum battles, but he was a decent tactician and played the raptor properly. He was pretty stealthy in it.

MadCat/Timberwolf - I’d have to go with Turboviper. He’s as good as any elite in those two Mechs. He doesn’t really care about individual stats, but is happy with the win. That’s really important in a team environment.

PoV- Gabriel 144. Wait, wasn’t he LoC then? Okay Gameblaster.

Thor/stilletto/nova cat/cougar/corvus/raven/blood asp/catapult- I’m not going to kid. I thought about this and I can’t think about anyone other than Asbestos who could pick up the less popular Mechs and actually affect the outcome of a clan match. It takes a lot of humility to do the dirty work and not always get the credit. He played any Mech I asked of him fully without complaining. His outlook was towards the success of the clan as a whole and not towards himself. Players like that are hard to come by.

Belial – Me. No really. Okay, j/k. This Mech is integral and it’s funny how so many people don’t know how to use it in a team setting, which is what the game is geared for.
Talking about questionable polls, I think it’s laughable that people always feel inclined to name HateMe as a top Belial when the topic arises. Why, because he won a few 1v1s? Has anyone actually played a clan match with the guy? I did and I know how it feels like. The only thing the guy is concerned about is finishing fast so he can go smoke his next joint and beat his kids. I don’t know what it is. I guess there is a certain cool factor with being a druggie and we have enough stoner pollsters whose opinions matter, I guess. The only reason RS beat Asylum on that fateful night is because we just got finished kicking them in the nuts for the fourth and final time. Not to mention we made their VTOL quit.

But I’m getting sidetracked. Okay, if I had to pick it would be Smokey. He and Jefferson were the only two in that clan that would give us fits, so we would spend time strategizing against those two. Smokey knew when not to push and when to push and he used his TJ appropriately. He had a clear understanding of the whole situation. Yes, he was shady and crooked, but the guy knew how to pilot a Belial.

Bowman – If only I had Sir Talonhawk. It wouldn’t even be fair. One of the top bowman pilots to ever play. In Mech1 this is all he would play. Too bad when we were together in Mech1 we wasted away in SoS. In Mech2, he wasted away in ICY.

Comstar- Allypok. Well, someone has to host the comstar where guys could go to in between maps during clan matches."

Well that is my interview and bitches remember who made you famous. That’s right. Oh yea, before I leave I would like to pay respect here to a good friend of mine who passed away last year. SirVTec(Adam) I know most Mech1 vets remember him. He was a great gamer and a good guy. It’s a tough loss and I pray for his family.

Thanks for answering our questions, Starscream!
